Full Moon Crazy

If the full moon only effects werewolves, then I'm in trouble, because I've got about fifteen teen wolves in my three Culinary Arts classes. They've been pretty wild the last couple days - so much so that I've actually asked my cooperating teacher if it's okay to beat students. She said no. Darn it.

I can't believe it took me until last night to realize the nature of their behavior. Silly me, I thought it was because most of them were nervous/hyped up about the basketball playoffs this week. When I remembered that only three of my Crazies actually played basketball, I had to rethink my reasoning. So naturally, the full moon came in second place, thanks to a friend's Facebook status. (I would tell you how I knew her but I forgot who it was and I can't get on Facebook at school to look...dang proxy thingies...) So some people believe that the full moon makes us do crazy things. We act crazy, talk crazy, eat, sleep and breathe crazy during a full moon. It's the time of the month when we do things that we wouldn't normally do.  A quick google search of this myth(?) yields the super-reliable wiki answer of "Lunatic means 'of the moon' or moonstruck. Think of how the moon affects the tides and consider that you're 80% water." Aaaaactually, it's about 60% unless you're an infant, but whatever. It all sounds like bullshit to me, but it's pretty good bullshit. So I'll believe it.

In the spirit of being fair, I'll admit that I'm also a little crazy this week. I'd like to think the moon is no match for me and it's just because of school, lesson planning, job searching, workout regimens, and trying (and failing) to keep up with my roommates, who just discovered they are the illegitimate daughters of Mr. Clean. If you've ever wanted to visit our house - now is the time, folks. It's legit the cleanest it's been all year - no thanks to myself, unfortunately. So as testimony to my craziness, here's a picture of me at school, in my teacher attire, with my teacher face and true teacher personality going on. Yes, I know it's in front of a cinder-block wall and that's pretty ghetto. Don't judge me or my school.

And on that note, have a wonderful, full moon crazy Friday!

welcome?

There are many things I could dedicate my blog to: teaching, p90x...well maybe just two things. Then there's life in general. I'm guessing this is going to be a compilation of everything. It feels weird without a purpose. But half the things I do with my life are goal-oriented and the other half are spontaneous and completely useless, so why not carry that over into a blog. Maybe I do have a goal. I used to write a lot. Mostly fiction - I'm a dreamer. Living in a fantasy land that I create in trusty old Microsoft Word is my idea of a good time. It's how I used to spend about 60% of my day - I would write pages of stories in the middle of class back in my undergrad years. (Sidenote: my GOD I feel old saying that) So maybe blogging will spark my creativity again and I'll get back into writing. I miss it. Amongst other things. Another downfall to getting old, I guess...missing things. sigh.
